1. The day of God's wrath, ; It will bring an end to the world. ; These are the words of the prophets. ; ; 2. With heartless terror, ; It will be with the coming of the judge, ; Where the reckoning begins. ; ; 3. The sound of the trumpet at once, ; May all be laid to rest, ; Whom, whom shall he call to the judgment seat. ; ; 4. Nature and death stare, ; How the dust of the earth becomes man, ; And stands before the judge. ; ; 5. The written book is opened, ; In which all is contained, ; Something is condemned. ; ; 6. When the judge sits shining, ; Nothing will remain hidden, ; Everything will be avenged. ; ; 7. Then poor me, what shall I do? ; Whom shall I take for my protection? ; Where saints also hide. ; ; 8. The mighty holiness of Heaven and Earth, ; The free salvation of the world, ; The depth of saving grace.
