Nagymegyer Haladas Printing House building

Between 1900 and 1914, several new buildings were opened in Nagymegyer. These included the Roman Catholic church, the Zárda school, the new village kindergarten, the new gendarmerie barracks, the new district medical building, the Nagymegyer and Vidéke Savings Bank building, the steam mill, the Kohn S. B. mansion, and the Haladás printing house. Of these, the Haladás printing house and the gendarmerie barracks building can be seen on the postcard in the main square. The establishment of the Haladás printing house in Nagymegyer made it possible for the newspapers printed here (Csallóközi Hírlap and Csallóközi Hiradó) to appear, which regularly reported on the public life of the town before World War I. In this printing house, Dr. József Baranyai's book "The Old Csallóköz" was published in 1911, which also dealt with the history of the settlement. The third picture on the postcard is the railway station building. During this period, in 1896, Nagymegyernek became a railway station.
