Assumption Roman Catholic Church

Building, structure

The Roman Catholic church dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Verebély was built between 1898 and 1901 on the site of the Baroque church used until then. The main financial supporter of the construction was the Cardinal - Prince Primate of Esztergom, Kolos Ferenc Vaszary. His portrait can still be seen in the church today. ; The altarpiece of the three-nave church built in the neo-Romanesque style was created by the painter János Vaszary (nephew of Kolos Vaszary). In the picture, Saint Stephen offers the Holy Crown to the Virgin Mary. On the left side of the picture, a statue of Saint Ladislaus can be seen, and on the right side, a statue of Saint Imre. The statues depicting Saint Peter and Saint Paul standing on both sides of the main entrance to the church were purchased from the Franciscan church in Nitra at the end of the 19th century.
