Győző Koós was a lieutenant in the Hungarian Royal Army, the owner of the large silver medal of valor, the military cross of merit with military decoration, third class, and the German Iron Cross. Győző Koós was an excellent student of the general teacher training institute in Sárospatak and in 1915, as an ensign, he obtained an excellent teacher's certificate. Győző Koós's father was a teacher and his brother was a pastor. ; On June 8, 1916, during a night attack on the northern battlefield near Ostroviec in the Volhynian battles, when he led his company to an attack, he died a heroic death from a bayonet. His comrades temporarily buried him in Cholm on June 10. His body was brought home and laid to rest in Balog on May 13, 1917, after the funeral speech of the local Reformed pastor Pál Csabay.
