Nádasdy House
Building, structure
The most interesting and notable Renaissance building in Vágújhely, the Nádasdy House, was built in the 14th century. It became the property of the Nádasdy family at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. Palatine György Thurzó wrote the charter here on December 30, 1610, based on which Elizabeth Báthori was imprisoned in Csejte Castle. The Hungarian coronation jewels were kept here on the way from Trenčín Castle to Sopron on the night of July 6 to 7, 1622. It was last restored in 1999. A bank branch was last located within its walls, and it is currently waiting for a new tenant.
