All Saints Parish Church

Building, structure

According to the decree of Saint Stephen, a church had to be built for every 10 settlements in a central and far-visible place. Based on this decree, the first church in Nénye was built and the parish “villa Eghasasfolu” was formed. … The first church, which was “in the area of the Háza cemetery, was completely destroyed during the Tatar invasion. Therefore, for a long time the village had a wooden church in the area of today's Parish...” ; ; At the prominent point of Lukanénye, in the area of the former Házasnénye, stands the centuries-old Roman Catholic parish church of All Saints. This dwelling of God was recently renovated from the inside and outside, painted, and today it adorns itself in its beautiful splendor above the village. It will be rededicated in 2014, on the occasion of its 250th anniversary and restoration. ; Opinions and statements so far are divided regarding the time of construction of the Baroque-Classicist church. At the time of the 1761 visitation, a church built of solid building materials already stood here, with a wooden-ceilinged sanctuary and a nave, with a vaulted sacristy. /…/ However, its walls were “crumbling due to their age”. It was also recorded about the church that it was built on the title of All Saints’ Day “out of the zeal and expense of the faithful, but when it was not known”. And as it was also mentioned: the house of the Lord “is blessed, but not consecrated.” ; According to one of the district monographs, the church here was built in the 1880s of the 18th century, and its current main facade was built in 1910. (Michalová, J.– Michal, P.,1980:233) / …/ ; However, in the Hungarian Catholic Encyclopedia, the former parish priest of the village writes that the church was built in 1764. (Pintér, 2003:177) This year of construction is also given in the Schematism of the Diocese of Bratislava-Nagyszombat, (1995:192) as well as in the Schematism of the Diocese of Bánya-Biszterce. (The parish recently belongs here.) ; ; The current Baroque-Classicist building, whose orientation is also unique and deceptive, is only a few meters wider than the one described earlier. /…/ The church is oriented northeast-southwest. As we know, the northeast tower is a later construction, to which a high staircase leads. /…/ The tower houses three bells. ; The small bell is the only one that still remains here from the old ones. It was dedicated to the honor of Saint John the Baptist, as evidenced by the Latin inscription. The middle bell was made in Bohemia between the two world wars. On it you can read this inscription: “Virgin Saint Imre pray for us./ Herold Richard bell foundry Chomutov./ From the donation of the Roman Catholic Church of Lukanénye.” The bell also shows the relief figure of Saint Imre. The large bell is also from the Czech Republic. This dedication is engraved on it: “Sacred Heart of Jesus, protect us!/ Cast instead of the bell taken to the World War from the donation of the Roman Catholic Community of Lukanénye./ 1923. Komutov.” The bell also has the relief of the Heart of Jesus. ; /…/; The title of the church is All Saints, and this is also depicted in the picture of the main altar. On the Feast of All Saints (Festum Omnium Sanctorum), we celebrate all those glorified souls, “who, due to their innumerable multitude, cannot be commemorated separately by name in the calendar. This includes, in addition to those who died in the name of the sanctity of food, all those who, renewed in purgatory, have already arrived in heaven.”
