Memorial column of the birthplace of Kálmán Mikszáth
Statue, monument, memorial plaque
“Unfortunately, the house where he was born has not survived. In 1968, a resident of the village, Jozef Varga, demolished the old dwelling with official permission. Its location was marked with a memorial stone a few years ago. …We find additional information in the memoirs of Ilona Mauks. ; According to this, Mikszáth himself told her that before his birth their house burned down, and they temporarily moved to the so-called Révész-fundus, and the writer was born there on Jesus’ name day, that is, on January 16.”* ; The memorial column next to the fence of the house where Mikszáth was born was made at the initiative of the Palóc Society and was placed there in 1989, praising the work of a sculptor from Losonc.**
