As part of the László Mécs Memorial Year, the priest-poet, who served in Nagykapos and Királyhelmec between the two world wars, was commemorated with a scientific conference and a statue unveiling ceremony at the Hungarian Community House in Nagykapos on September 26, 2015. The statue, made of Spanish clay, which rivals the hardness of granite, was donated to the Hungarian community of Nagykapos by Tibor Tórök Túri, a Keszthely artist.
