Marian column
Statue, monument, memorial plaque
The Marian Column, declared a monument in 1963, is located in the historic center of the city. The column was started by Jakab Haskó, the provost of Vágújhely, in memory of the plague epidemic of 1694, but was completed by Miklós Lippay, the provost, due to his death. The baroque column, most recently renovated in 2001, is the work of Pál Zsámbokréti.
