The Bratislava orphanage was founded in 1831, but it was not yet operating in its current location. The building, which still exists today, is located on a terrace in the picturesque part of the New Town, on the side of Mély út, a line marked by the surrounding terrain, and was built in 1900 based on the designs of S. Melzer in an eclectic style. The most striking element of the not completely symmetrical floor plan, with an axis broken at an obtuse angle in the middle, is the four-axis central block, designed as a thick tower, which also houses the main entrance. The mosaic above the portal was created by Károly Lotz. The roof plane of the building with a hipped gable roof is varied by numerous, mostly decorative, roof structures, windows, and turrets. The unplastered, red brick building only has plastered surfaces on the ground floor, on its cornices, and as a frame for its doors and windows. The building, which was run by the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent de Paula from 1893, also housed a chapel dedicated to the Immaculate Virgin. ; In front of the house is a small, fenced park. Today, the building houses an elementary school.
