Purple Gallery

Ethnographic collection

The Lilla Gallery was named after the love of Mihály Csokonai Vitéz. Júlia Vajda was the wife of the pastor of Hetény, and she came from Dunamocs. She only met the poet a few times, who immediately fell in love with his violet-blue eyes. He wanted to marry the young girl, but her parents opposed it and quickly gave her away to a much older man. After becoming a widow, she married Mihály Végh in her old age, who was a violent, drunkard. In Lilla's unhappy marriage, only a book of poems written by Csokonai himself was a source of some comfort. She asked to be buried with the book, but her relatives did not fulfill her last request either. Júlia Vajda also knew Tarczy. In her old age, Tinka, the daughter of one of Tarczy's sisters, Klára - Kristína - took care of her. The Lilla Gallery was rebuilt in the 1980s, and one part of it houses the ethnographic collection of retired teacher Ernő Zajos. ; The building hosts exhibitions and displays.
