Above the memorial plaque, there is a square black marble slab with a cross and the Polish coat of arms. According to some sources, during World War II, 35 Polish refugees found a home in this village. However, in István Lagzi's work entitled Polish Refugees' Camp Relations in Northern Hungary, we find different data: the number of Polish crew was 120, the number of non-commissioned officers here was 10, and that of officers was 1. According to the locals, they had their own doctor and priest. The beautiful Madonna painting in the church, which was once the altarpiece of the Catholic Poles, also evokes the memory of the refugees.
