Postcard
The Vága village school was maintained by the Roman Catholic community. After the school and the cantor's apartment built by the Esztergom Archdiocese in 1816 fell into disrepair in the second half of the 19th century, plans were made to build a new, two-story school. Cardinal János Simor contributed 1,200 forints to this, and the village loaned 8,000 forints. The facade of the new school faced east, its foundation and walls were made of burnt bricks, and its roof was made of burnt tiles. The classrooms for grades 1 and 2 were planned with the cantor's apartment on the ground floor, and the classrooms for grades 3-4 and 5-6 with the two teachers' apartments were planned on the first floor. ; At the time of the 1890 census, the number of children aged 6-14 in Vága who were eligible for compulsory education was 507 (243 boys and 264 girls). The total number of children of preschool age (3-5 years old) was 187.
