In 1997, the local government of Madar ordered the headstone from the woodcarver Szilveszter Sidó. The request was to engrave three years into the wood. ; 1. “1198” – the 800th anniversary of the village’s founding; 2. “MADAR 1198” Unwaveringly for your homeland – the first written mention of the village; 3. “1948” – the 50th anniversary of the event when part of the village’s population (58 families) was deported to Hungary. ; - Carved by Szilveszter Sidó; Celebrations at the headstone: March 15th wreath-laying, commemoration of the 1848 revolution.
