Statue, monument, memorial plaque
In honor of the 160th anniversary of the Hungarian War of Independence, on March 15, 2008, the Csemadok Nagybalog Alapszerzevez erected a headstone in the garden of the local Reformed church. In addition to local organizations, the event was honored with their presence by representatives of foreign parties, representatives of the Balogvölgy Local Organization of the Rákóczi Association (led by Erzsébet Homoly), representatives of the Csemadok Rimaszombat Regional Committee (Valéria Sebők and Elvira Povinszky), the Vitárius István Hussar Bandérium of Ózd (led by Egon Vitko), representatives of our sister settlement Susa-Uraj (led by Lajos Tartó, a representative from Ózd). The celebratory speech was given by Mayor Tibor Csúr, but Valéria Sebők also greeted the celebrants. The memorial program included the Rainbow Choir led by conductor Tibor Lévay and the Gyöngyösi István Literary Circle. The arrival, report, guard of honor and wreath-laying of the hussar band also enhanced the celebration's heartfelt glow. After the wreath-laying, the invited guests attended a charity reception at the local cultural center.
