The monument, the work of the woodcarver Vince Buják from Tardoskeddi, was erected in 2008. Since 1948, 247 people have been executed in Czechoslovakia, 4,000 people have died in labor camps, 80,000 people have been detained, 260,000 people have been imprisoned, and 270 people have died while escaping to the West. In addition, 600 teachers have been dismissed from their jobs, 1,500 church members have been arrested, and many people have been abducted, forced to remain silent… ; Érsekújvár was no exception, many families were affected by the period of deportations and forced labor.
