The publication Medieval Church Sites of Hont County states the following about Kőkeszi: “We read about the church of Saint Martin in 1346, according to the tithe register, the church of Kukesu is also dedicated to Saint Martin and its branches are Nyék and Cohum. The church of Kőkeszi is still the church of Saint Martin today. (Bakács, 1943:8) The parish of the village (together with Nyék) is also listed in the papal tithe register of 1332, although there is no information on the annual income and the tithe paid. (Györffy, 1987:171) The Hungarian Catholic Encyclopedia states that its parish is located in the Drégelypalánk parish district of the Esztergom Archdiocese of the former Hont County, and its branches were Gyürki, Sirak Szelény and Terbegec.
