Mór Kóczán Memorial Wall

The memorial wall is located in the lobby of the Hungarian-language primary school in Csilizradvány. The school has had the honorary title of Mór Kóczán Primary School since October 2008. The memorial wall consists of several parts. It consists of pictures of the former Reformed pastor of Csilizradvány and a work by Sándor Uprik. Mór Kóczán was born on January 8, 1885 in the village of Kocs, Komárom County. He began his studies at the Transdanubian Reformed Church High School in Pápa. After graduating in theology, he became an assistant pastor in Csallóközaranyos. On October 4, 1914, he was appointed to his position as a Reformed pastor in Csilizradvány, where he served for 34 years. He founded a sports club in the village, of which he was a full-time member. Here he married Karolina Halász in 1915, and his only child, Edit, was born. He and his family were deported to Hungary in September 1948. He died in Alsógöd in 1972. His name was made famous by his successes in sports. He participated in the London Olympics in 1908. In Bratislava, he set a world record in javelin throwing with a throw of 56.64 meters, and in 1911, he won the Hungarian championship five times. His greatest success was at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, where he won a bronze medal in javelin throwing.
