(Óbuda, October 12, 1831 – Bratislava, April 26, 1898): historian, Catholic priest, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. ; He studied humanities in Nagyszombat and theology in Esztergom. First he was a teacher at the seminary in Nagyszombat, then a supervisor of studies in Bratislava. From 1860 he was the archdiocesan sublibrarian and archival registrar in Esztergom. In 1871 he was appointed canon of Esztergom, in 1878 abbot, in 1890 a bishop, and in 1895 provost.
