Zsigárd Monument to the Displaced

The Zsigárd Municipality, the Zsigárd Reformed and Catholic Parishes, and the Zsigárd Foundation of the Csemadok organized the ceremonial inauguration of the monument erected in memory of the deported Zsigárd residents on the square in front of the Reformed parish on October 28, 2017. ; The sermon was preached by ThDr. Zoltán Szénási, dean. Greetings were given by Alajos Baranyay, mayor of Zsigárd municipality, Zsolt Baranyay, Nyitra County representative, József Menyhárt, president of the Hungarian Community Party, and István Kőkuti, mayor of Ecseny municipality. ; After the ceremonial speeches, the monument was blessed by Reverend István Iván and consecrated by Parish Priest Róbert Varga. Singers and performers Margaréta Ziaček and Imre Vadkerti participated in the ceremony. ; The inauguration and wreath-laying ceremony of the monument was attended by a large number of the displaced persons and their descendants. Following the inauguration, the participants were able to watch a performance by Csaba Jónás, András Madarász, Attila Zsapka and Imre Vadkerti in the Reformed church.
