Királyrévi belfry and soul bell
Statue, monument, memorial plaque
In the presence of Antal Heizer, the Hungarian Ambassador to Bratislava, the parish priest Róbert Gombik consecrated the belfry and the requiem bell erected in the local cemetery. The belfry, shaped like a gate, created by the woodcarver Róbert Smidt from Szógyény, and the forty-kilogram bell cast in the foundry in Žarnovica, were made with the support of the Királyrév Organization of Small Gardeners and the local government. “This wonderful building symbolizes cooperation. Not only the cooperation of the small gardeners and the government, but also of all the residents of Királyrév,” said Mayor Pál Racskó. Antal Heizer also said that he was proud that he, as a Hungarian German, could represent Hungary in Slovakia. He mentioned that he was looking for his grandfather, who died on March 15, 1945 in the Upper Hungary. He volunteered for the army only to avoid being drafted into the Waffen SS. The ambassador said that he would be relieved if his grandfather's memory were also preserved by a soul bell like the one that now stands in the Királyrév cemetery.
