Small pot, big spoon

Say

Note: ; Type number: Bihari 1980. G. II. 3/A. This type is also included in the fairy tale catalogue of János Berze Nagy (BN 367*). Other variants: Salgótarján (Mátrainé Róza Varga, 1910. 116.), Gömörsíd: “Kis bögre, nagy kanál” (our own manuscript collection), Varbóc: “Kit tupor, nagy kanál” (Magyar Zoltán, 2001. 439.), Bodrogkeresztúr: “Kicsi csupor, nagy kanál, egeyel bolond, ha stánstíl!” (Dobos Ilona, 1988. 291.). The switched child was recognized in a similar way in Borsodnádasd and Csitár (Barna Gábor, 1989. 651.). Within this type, which shows little variation, the motif used by Darmo also occurs relatively rarely: an animal is used to reveal the switched child (cf.: Ilona Dobos, 1988. 294-295. - a live black cat must be hidden in the pot.).
