From May 19, 1849, the Alsó-Csallóköz operations were directed from Nagymegyer by the son of Ferenc Kazinczy, Lieutenant Colonel Lajos Kazinczy. From there, on May 24, 1849, he sent his report to Görgei about the strength of the Austrian army fighting in the region and its operational plans. He authorized the usual national fair in Nagymegyer at the end of May 1849. However, he maintained strict order in his army. His name survived in connection with two military emergency tribunal decisions. He left the city on June 2, 1849. According to Görgei's order, he was sent to Transylvania. Here, at Görgei's suggestion in Zsibón, he laid down his arms before the tsarist troops. He was captured by Haynau, who sentenced him to death. On October 20, 1849, he was executed in Arad, at the age of 29. He was the 14th martyr of Arad. The Csemadok Nagymegyer Organization had a plaque erected in his memory on October 6, 2012.
