Catholic church
Building, structure
The oldest and most significant building in the village is the Roman Catholic church. According to the Pázmány census, it existed as early as the 1300s, but it is possible that it was built even earlier. In 1775, a new Baroque church was built on its old site, which was given a Classicist facade in the first half of the 19th century. Its single-nave church space has a flat ceiling, and its semicircular-arched sanctuary is covered by a half-dome. Its main altar dates from 1746 and is under the patronage of Saint John of Nepomuk. The rest of the furnishings date from the late 19th century and the early 20th century. The dominant element of the main view is the tower, the lower part of which protrudes slightly from the plane of the wall. Its windows are semicircular. On its main altar is a stone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk made in 1746. Its late Baroque bells date from 1747. Renovation work was carried out on the church in 1993-1994. It was last restored in the 1990s. The restoration work was carried out by Mónika Varga, a local resident. ; Based on the available written documents, Felsővámos operated as a branch church of the Vásárúti mother church.
