Karva Church Park and the Roman Catholic Church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Roman Catholic ; church of Karva was built in 1232 in the late Romanesque style. The church was then dedicated to Saint Lawrence ;. During the Turkish wars and the uprisings of the order, the ; church fell into disrepair, and around 1712 Count Ferenc Gyulay had it renovated in the Baroque ; style, then in 1936 it was renovated again according to its Baroque condition. The Romanesque church was dedicated to Saint Lawrence, and only after the Baroque ; renovation was it dedicated to its current patron saint (now with the title of Our Lady of the Assumption ;). The church also had a tower, which was removed during the 1712 renovation.

The church and its surroundings – the church park – have numerous ; preserves the memory and is the site of significant cultural events. Here you can find the ; originally 18th century wooden belfry, rebuilt in 1926, the Rákóczi ; monument to the War of Independence, the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Lourdes and the stone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk ; on the Danube embankment, in the immediate vicinity of the churchyard, which was made in 1843 and renovated in 1902.&nbsp,
