Kamper House
Building, structure
The most famous historical building on Maria Theresa Street is the house, once owned by Gr. Szapéry, then Kämper, and later Scharfeneck, decorated with a beautiful coat of arms, which is now known as the “Golden Crown”. According to the 1623 tax book, this house was castle-like, with a moat and a drawbridge (platform). In this house, at the beginning of the 17th century (1606), the newly formed evangelical community in Bratislava, led by the court preacher András Reis, held its services.” The Kamper House, built in the Renaissance style in 1601, is now home to the Archaeological Museums.
