Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church

Building, structure

The Roman Catholic church was built in 1931. ; -On May 9, 1931, István Fuhrmann sent a letter to the bishopric regarding the awards. He referred to his previously sent report, in which he mentioned that the widow Józsefné Hevessy had offered 60,000 crowns for the construction of the tower of the Tornalja church. ; -On August 31, 1931, the parish priest had already started correspondence about the consecration ceremony of the built Tornalja church, for which he naturally asked the bishop to attend. He attached great importance to the event also because of the religious composition of the region. "Our church consecration is intended to take place in the spirit of a great Catholic manifestation, which has never happened before in this valley. Tornaja has been a Reformed center until now, and no one even noticed us as Catholics, because we were modest and reserved, today we are more numerous than them, and that is why we need a little external manifestation, let them see that we are alive, that we exist, and that we are more numerous than them."
