Lajos Jekelfalussy of Jekelfalus and Margitfalvi (Szacsúr, October 1, 1848 – Budapest, July 22, 1911) was a Hungarian military officer and Minister of Defense in the second Wekerle government. ; He was born on October 1, 1848 in the village of Szacsúr, Zemplén County. His father was Sándor Jekelfalussy of Jekelfalus and Margitfalvi (1823-1882), and his mother was Count Kamilla Festetics of Tolna (1825-1903). His paternal grandfather, József Jekelfalussy (1766 - 1826), an imperial and royal chamberlain, contributed 20,000 forints to the foundation of the Ludovika Academy and donated 10 - 10,000 forints to the purposes of the Hungarian National Museum and the National Theater. On September 16, 1869, he was commissioned into the 37th Military Battalion in Prešov. On October 24, 1869, he was appointed lieutenant. Between 1876 and 1878, he was a student at the military academy. In 1879 and 1880, he was a teacher at the Ludovika Academy, later moving to the Department of the Ministry of National Defense. In 1890, he was appointed colonel, and on October 16, 1892, he was appointed commander of the 12th Military Infantry Regiment in Szatmár. At that time, he received the Order of the Iron Crown in recognition. In 1894, he was commander of the 80th Infantry Brigade in Debrecen. In 1896, he became a major general, and three years later, he was appointed commander of the 5th Military District in Székesfehérvár. In 1901, Emperor Franz Joseph awarded him the Order of Leopold, and in 1905 he was promoted to imperial and royal lieutenant general. In 1906, he became a representative of the Zvolen district as a member of the National Constitutional Party, and later became Minister of Defense in the second Wekerle government. He died in 1911 and was laid to rest in the family tomb in the Lonto cemetery.
