Ipolybalog belfry

It was built on a masonry foundation of natural stone in the 18th century, its skirt part is supported by eight columns, and the tower body is made up of five columns. The skirt part and the helmet are covered with shingles. Its tower helmet is pyramid-shaped, and its top decoration is a large metal double cross. ; In the western part of the village, next to the through road, on the north side, there is a wooden belfry with a unique structure. The extraordinary thing about this structure is that the fifth column, the imperial beam, in its vertical axis also starts from the base beam, just like in other much larger, for example nine-column towers”; The bell tower was last renovated in the early 1980s, but we can also read about older renovations in the Historia Domus. For example, the following was recorded in 1861: “In April I wrote to the office about the renovation of the Balog bell tower, and in May I had it renovated, re-shingled, and boarded.
