Bust of John Hunyadi

On August 29, 2021, the bust of János Hunyadi was inaugurated in a ceremonial setting in the city of Komárom.
The work was a gift from sculptor Tibor Tórök Túri to the local community.
The erection of the statue was preceded by a multi-year negotiation process, during which permission for its placement in a public space was not obtained.
As a result, the bust was temporarily placed in storage.
Finally, it was placed on private land near Határőr Street, which, although not an official public square, can be visited.
Local public figures, civil organizations and interested parties participated in the inauguration ceremony.
Speech speeches were given at the event, highlighting the historical role of János Hunyadi and the significance of the victory at Nándorfehérvár.
The event was also accompanied by a cultural program, which further raised the status of the ceremony.
The Hungarian press in the Upper Hungary called it a “long described the process of erecting the statue as a "calvary".
The bust today serves as an important historical and identity symbol for the local Hungarian community.
