The memorial plaque of István Hubik (1916-1994), born in Garamkövesd, was placed on the wall of the cultural center. ; From 1954, he worked in the Hungarian book publishing house Madách Könyv- és Lapkiadó in Czechoslovakia as an editor, editor-in-chief, and then deputy editor-in-chief. He received the Madách Imre Prize four times for his translations, the Slovak Literary Fund's Standard Prize three times, and in 1991 he received the Madách Könyv- és Lapkiadó Standard Prize. He translated more than fifty Slovak and Czech literary works into Hungarian.
