Conquest headstone in Persé

Statue, monument, memorial plaque

In 1996, the district leaderships of the three Hungarian parliamentary parties at the time decided to erect a memorial and a headstone in the village of Perse, where graves were excavated in the Bérc and Bórszeg estates during the conquest, in memory of the 1100th anniversary of the conquest, as a symbol of the 1100-year continuous presence of the Hungarians here, and their loyalty to the nation and homeland. The headstone was commissioned to be made by the woodcarver Katalin Nagyferenc from Rimaszombat. The local government of Perse supported and assisted in the implementation. At the ceremonial inauguration, on October 6, 1996, representatives of the three parties, the Csemads and other legal and private individuals laid wreaths. ; Since then, it has been the venue for village days and occasional commemorations.
