The Voice of Somorja – Vox Samariae civic association organized the ceremonial unveiling and consecration of the memorial plaque of Count János Esterházy during a mass on June 25, 2014, in the parish church of the Assumption of Mary in Somorja. ; ; It was not by chance that June 25 was chosen. In 1935, János Esterházy made his first parliamentary speech in Prague, in which he declared his support for the autonomy aspirations of the "Slovenian Hungarians". ; The festive mass was celebrated by Father Zoltán Fóthy, who celebrated one of his last services in Somorja, after five years in Somorja, as he will continue his priestly service in the Diocese of Nitra, Nagysallo, from July. ; At the plaque dedication mass, Count János Esterházy, a Hungarian politician and martyr from the Highlands, was commemorated with special respect. In his speech, the parish priest of the Parish Church of the Assumption of Our Lady of Somorja, Zoltán Fóthy, asked God that we, Hungarians from the Highlands, can integrate the life example and message of János Esterházy more and more perfectly into our lives. "We also ask God that we may honor him among the saints," he said. ; The memorial plaque placed on the wall of the church was unveiled by Ferenc Csukás Zetényi, the donor of the memorial plaque, and Árpád Kiss, the president of the Somorja Hangja - Vox Samariae civic association. ; Ferenc Csukás Zetényi (writer, journalist) has Highland roots, his family comes from the Komárom area, he is a distant relative of the former Reformed pastor, Zsigmond Csukás, who served in Somorja for several decades. ; Following the inauguration and unveiling, a wreath was laid on the memorial plaque by József Szabó, Counselor of the Hungarian Embassy in Bratislava, Mária Horváth, Representative of the Esterházy János Memorial Committee, Gábor Bárdos, Mayor of Somorja, Historian Dr. Imre Molnár, Counselor of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ferenc Zetényi Csukás, Donor of the memorial plaque, Árpád Kiss and László Kopasz on behalf of the Voice of Somorja - Vox Samariae Civic Association, on behalf of the Hungarian National Guard: Dr. András Czapáry-Martincsevics, Knight László Zetényi Csukás, Knight Péter Báli, Knight Gáspár Farkas, Imre Knirs, President of the Association for a Better Komárom. ; Among the contributors to the event, we should mention the participation of János Fazekas, Antal Publik and Ildikó Vass, who contributed to the dignity of the ceremony with their presentations. ; The location for the worthy placement of the memorial plaque was selected by the organizing civic association with the intervention of Erzsébet Pogány, director of the Association for Common Goals. The ceremony ended with the singing of the National Anthem in the church. ; Following the inauguration of the memorial plaque, Dr. Imre Molnár, author of the book The Life and Martyrdom of János Esterházy, gave a very successful presentation in the Pastoral Center next to the church. ; The historian highlighted the closer ties of the martyr count's life to Somorja and the region.
