Garzuli-Schilson house
Building, structure
"The old Garzuli, later Baron Schilson's house on the corner of the Main Square and Apponyi Street is also the property of the First Savings Bank today. It stands out with its monumentality, its monumental gate as the name suggests, and its base in a false rustic style, which leans outwards like a support. This building style became common in our city with the advent of the Renaissance, as evidenced not only by the houses on this Main Square, but also by the houses on Bastya Street. The iron hook still on the corner of this house was used to hang the iron chain with which Apponyi Street was blocked off during city hall meetings, so that the noise of the traffic on it would not disturb the meetings. Today, the building houses various city offices, including the Hungarian Royal Registry Office." ; ; Today, the Japanese Embassy in Slovakia is located in the building.
