Memorial plaque of the priest-poet Jenő Farkas

Jenő Farkas (1922-1979) was a Roman Catholic priest, poet, and translator. He served as a priest in Nagymegyer in the 1960s. The Nagymegyer Organization of the Csemadok and the Nagymegyer Roman Catholic Parish created the memorial plaque in memory of this, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his ordination as a priest, in 2006. The memorial plaque was created by Sándor Klig, a sculptor from Szeged, with the support of the Hungarian Civic Hungary Foundation. The memorial plaque was placed on the outer wall of the Zárda School and was ceremonially unveiled on June 23, 2006. After that, every year on Whit Monday, the Jenő Farkas recitation competition commemorates the priest-poet born in Senj, where the organizers also lay a wreath on his memorial plaque.
