Village Museum Szimő
Built heritage
A treasure trove of old values collected in the village, including furniture, clothes, pictures, musical instruments, tools, work tools, church altar, vestments, sacred objects, embroideries, archival material, old money. The collection began in the premises of the Hungarian Kindergarten in Szímő, under the name Grandma's Room, in 1994, at the initiative of the headmistress Magdolna Priskin. Later, the village Gallery housed the collection. It was given a worthy place in August 2021 and can be visited from Aug. 27. The museum includes three rooms, a room, a kitchen, and a church side in one spacious room, a separate tool room and a separate archive. ; ; Justification ; ; The museum preserves unique heritage that can be found in few places, a wooden-wheeled baby carriage, a wooden sledge that replaced the stroller in winter, a beautifully crafted firecracker, a large linen shirt used during the harvest, a winged altar from the early 1900s, an angel with an olive branch, a statue, the original tombstone of the father of the priest Ányos Jedlik, inventor, native of our village, old vestments, valuable albums with photographs recalling the village's past.
