Statue of Our Lady of Sorrows

Sacral small monument

Statue of the Virgin Mary of Sorrows (Statue of the Seven Sorrows, Statue of the Kádek, Statue of the Seven Sorrows Virgin Mary) ; ; Also made of polychrome sandstone, located south of the cemetery's main cross. There are columns on the sides of the pedestal, and an angelic relief on the front bottom. The following inscription can be read directly below the statue on the edge of the pedestal: VIRGIN OF SORROWS PRAY FOR THE DEAD On its pedestal: THIS STATUE OF THE VIRGIN MARY OF SORROWS WAS ESTABLISHED FOR THE GLORY OF GOD BY ANDRÁS KADEK AND HIS FAMILY 1934. This is the same András Kádek who erected a roadside cross with his wife at the Catholic church (Istvánné Feszty Scheffer Piroska, born 1915). They are buried immediately behind the object under examination. The descendant of the creator of the Holy Trinity statue, who lives in America, also sent financial support for the renovation of the statue. He did this out of gratitude to honor his relatives who died near the sacred monument. After the renovation, it was consecrated by the parish priest Vladimír Oravský in the presence of a small group (Mechura Jánosné Rákász Terézia Veronika, born 1926). At that time, a granite tablet with the following inscription was placed on the south side of the pedestal of the object: IN THANKFULNESS AND IN MEMORY OF THE VIRGIN MOTHER, THE FOJTIK, RÁKÁSZ VERONIKA, WERE RESTORED IN 2001. ; After World War II, until roughly the end of the 1950s, the people of Ógyalla still buried themselves at home, but it may have happened that during this period the dead from the nearby pusztas and farms were buried at one of the above cemetery objects (Chalupeczky Józsefné Anna Hulkó, born 1923). Nowadays, Roma people say goodbye to their dead at the sacral monuments. Furthermore, the faithful hold a litany at the same places on All Saints' Day.
