Sorrowful Mother Chapel
Building, structure
There was an imposing Baroque chapel in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows near the Eszterházy Castle in Galánta, built in 1741, and it also contained statues of the patron saints against the plague epidemic. Unfortunately, in 1962, the chapel fell victim to progressive ideas and was demolished. Most of the Baroque high altar from the chapel was saved and transferred to the parish church in December 1962. The parish church's high altarpiece of King Stephen was moved to the nave, and the altar structure of the demolished chapel was built onto the high altar of the Galánta church.
