One of the most significant Hungarian monumental sculptors of his time, the last decades of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, János Fadrusz was born in Bratislava, in the Pálffy yard on the former Vártelek Street, on September 2, 1858. He lived most of his life in Virágvölgy, a suburb of Bratislava. He died in Budapest, just turning 45, on October 26, 1903.
