1. One thousand nine hundred and eighty-nine, ; We have dawned in health, ; Let us all bless our Creator God, ; For giving (and) sustaining our lives. ; ; 2. How many have passed away in the past, ; Who rejoiced here with us, ; How many orphans mourn their fathers and mothers, ; How many spouses sigh for their departed partners. ; ; 3. But for us the Lord God, ; Has granted us this here, ; Let us rejoice in this new year, ; Let us sing thanks to our gracious Creator. ; ; 4. As well as with fervent prayer, ; We ask, and with bowed faces, ; Our King, our country in peace, ; Keep him in all the minutes of the new year. ; ; 5. Our Roman Pontiff, ; And our local spiritual father, ; Together with our superiors in this new year, ; May the holy God of grace keep us safe. ; ; 6. All your inhabitants, ; The poor, the rich, ; Widows and orphans to your mercy ; We commend to you, Almighty God, in this new year. ; ; 7. From fire, water, hail, ; From wars, pestilence and disaster, ; Keep us, protect us from condemnation, ; Our holy God save us from sudden death! ; ; 8. Bless our crops, ; Our fruit trees, our vineyards, ; Keep all our goods with us, ; In this new year we ask you, our great God.
