Memorial plaque of János Esterházy in Szent

Twenty-five years have passed since they first wanted to place a plaque commemorating János Esterházy next to the statue of the Virgin Mary of Lourdes in Szent. At that time, political circumstances did not allow this, and on June 12, 2019, the memorial plaque was finally consecrated. ; János Esterházy prayed at the statue of the Virgin Mary in Szent several times, and he also prayed here in the prisoner transport car when he was transported to Bratislava from the Soviet Gulag. “…Let us all act in agreement and love…” – reads the plaque, which was unveiled after the Holy Mass. At the Mass, Dr. Zsolt Farkas, the parish priest of Szógyén, expressed his hope that János Esterházy would soon be beatified. ; The plaque (which was placed with the permission of the local parish) was unveiled by Zsolt Farkas and Rezső Duray, the president of the MKP Szenc Local Organization, who had the plaque made 25 years ago as the local president of the MKDM. ; The marble plaque was blessed by Chaplain András Bošňák, then the participants lit a candle, paying tribute to the memory of the martyred politician.
