János Erdélyi Memorial Museum

Literary

In order to preserve the memory and legacy of János Erdélyi, a poet, playwright, and folk poetry collector, born in Nagykapos, the János Erdélyi Museum was founded in 1965 by the dedicated work of the Erdélyi-granddaughters, Zsuzsanna Dobozyné Erdélyi and Ilona Törökné Erdélyi, and is housed in the Nagykapos cultural center. ; In 2003, the Hungarian Community House in Nagykapos was established and at the same time the János Erdélyi Museum also found a new home. Until 2016, it served a dual function, on the one hand as an exhibition hall (it preserved the memories of János Erdélyi and the priest-poet László Mécs), and on the other hand as a lecture hall suitable for approximately 30 people. ; In 2016, the museum was renovated and expanded. Currently, the Erdélyi János Memorial Museum preserves the memory of prominent personalities of the Ung-vidék region, such as János Erdélyi, László Mécs, Lajos Géczi, Zsuzsanna Erdélyi, Gábor Géza Herczegh and Csaba Skultéty. In the memorial museum, visual projection technology assists visitors in accordance with the expectations of the modern age.
