Memorial plaque for the handover of the Levente flag from Tápiógyörgye

The history of the inauguration of the national flag in Nagymegyer is closely connected to the development of friendly relations between Nagymegyer and Tápiógyörgye. In Tápiógyörgye, the leadership already dealt with the gift of the national flag on December 2, 1938, which was intended for Nagymegyer. This ultimately did not materialize, because at the turn of 1938 and 1939, the board of the Kelenvölgyi Casino approached the people of Nagymegyer with an offer, which they accepted. The ceremonial inauguration of the national flag took place in Nagymegyer on June 4, 1939. Two days after the hoisting of the National Flag, on June 6, 1939, the people of Nagymegyer were able to personally welcome the delegation of the Leventes from Tápiógyörgye, who brought the Levente flag they had made to the Nagymegyer Levente Organization. The delegation consisted of 12 Leventes and 3 escorts, who were warmly welcomed by the people of Nagymegyer and accommodated with families. ; The friendly relations were renewed in 2006, at the initiative of Csaba Németh, president of the Torockó Friendship Society, who contacted the Nagymegyer Organization of the Csemads. ; The Levente flag brought to Nagymegyer in 1939 could not be found, but it revealed the beginning of the history of friendly relations and then its continuation, and was immortalized in book form by Csaba Németh and László Varga in the publication "In the Footsteps of a Lost Flag". In 2015, the mayors of the two settlements also signed an agreement on twin-city cooperation. ; The commemorative plaque was unveiled on October 15, 2016, by Zsuzsanna Bittera, the local president of the Csemadok, and Csaba Németh, the president of the Torockó Friends' Association in Tápiógyörgye. The inauguration ceremony was attended by students from the Bartók Béla Elementary School in Nagymegyer.
