World War I Memorial
Statue, monument, memorial plaque
There are two war memorials in Lukanénye. The World War I memorial was erected in the village in 1923. It still stands today under the church, on the left side of the road leading to the village. The small sacral monument made of natural stone commemorates not only the heroic dead of Nénye, but also the former branch villages, and their names are also included on the white marble tablet. This was a nice gesture at the time by the parish and the parish priest of Lukanénye, Kálmán Haller. ; ; A series of steps leads to the memorial. The rectangular part on the concrete base is higher, and on it you can see the large white marble memorial tablet with the names of the dead. Above you can read this text: "They rest, the heroic sons, after the battles". Then the 45 names follow, grouped by villages /.../ The upper part of the memorial ends in a triangular peak. In the middle, a small white marble plaque reads: "In memory / of his sons who fell in the World War / of the parish of Lukanénye / 1923". At the top of the stone figure stands an iron cross with a three-lobed stem end, with a cast iron corpus on it. The corpus is white, the loincloth is brown. Christ's head is turned slightly to the left and towards the sky, the feet are on top of each other.
