The graves of Bratislava Mayor Henrik Justi (1804–1878 - buried in Sector V/1) and his former political opponent, Tivadar Edl, who died in 1882, are located in Sector V/3 of the cemetery. ; The two men – the first man of Bratislava and an influential banker and financial expert – ruled the city for almost twenty years. Although their starting points were very different – Justi joined the revolution and the war of independence in 1848/49, while Edl was a member of the deputation that was called upon to convince Franz Joseph to ask the Russians for help in crushing the war of independence – later there was great agreement between them. ; Tivadar Edl (1805-1882) was a once-determining personality of Bratislava. He played a leading role in the political, economic and cultural life of the city. He is credited with founding the First Bratislava Savings Bank, the Bratislava Volunteer Fire Department, and the Bratislava Gymnastics Association. He was the president of the Bratislava Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as the owner of several other businesses, a royal councilor, and was known as an excellent pianist. He was a full member of the Bratislava City Beautification Association and other social organizations.
