János Draskovits (Baron of Trakostyan), Ban of Croatia, leader of the cavalry, son of Gáspár Draskovits. He began his military career under the Croatian Ban Tamás Erdődy in the wars against the Turks, winning victories at Pozsega in 1589 and at Kaproncza in 1591 against Hassan Pasha. He relieved Osijek from the siege in 1592, was granted the rank of baron in that year, and in 1596 became a treasurer. In 1597 he relieved Petriná from the Turkish siege and was victorious in several battles. After the peace of 1606, he resigned from the office of Ban and retired, then mostly living in Vienna and Bratislava. As a court councilor and commander of the Transdanubian army, he participated in the council of war. He died in March 1613. 11. in Bratislava.
