Dr. Antal Párkány (* 16 Sept. 1927, Galánta, † 1 Nov. 2008, Szenc) was a high school teacher, textbook author and translator. He obtained a teaching certificate from the Pedagogical College in Bratislava in 1951–1956, and a doctorate in humanities from the Comenius University in 1972. After the war, he worked in a porcelain factory in the Czech Republic until 1951, then began teaching in Hidaskürt. Between 1953 and 1957 he was a secondary school teacher in Galántá, in 1957–1958 he was the central inspector of education for Hungarian nationalities at the Office of the Commissioner for Education, and then he was a high school teacher until his retirement (in Szentendre in 1958–1961, in Somorján in 1961–1963, and then again in Szentendre from 1963). His pedagogical articles, literary criticism, and travelogues were published in Slovak Hungarian newspapers. He is the co-author or translator of nearly forty textbooks and methodological manuals.
