The main supporter of the unification of the two villages, Magyar- and Németszőgyén, was the local notary, Gyula Csongrády. He suggested Szőgyén as a common name. Csongrády retired in October 1915, at the age of 64, and then moved to Kőhídgyarmat, where the husband of his daughter Piroska, István Sipos, also born in Szőgyén, worked as a notary. He died in Kőhídgyarmat. The contemporary issue of the Prague Hungarian Newspaper also reported on the funeral.
