Csiliznyárad Roman Catholic Church

Building, structure

The Roman Catholic church of Csiliznyárad is located on the main street of the village. The Catholics of Náradi have been going to church in Medvé and Balony for centuries. The initiators of the church construction were Gábor Sebő and Gábor Csicsay, the two big farmers of the village. Their petition was also supported by the parish priest of Balony and the archdiocese of Nagyszombat. Therefore, in 1929, the location of the new church was designated in the middle of the village on a former water catchment area. The local farmers carried out the earthworks without money. The construction of the church was undertaken by an entrepreneur named Kazlek from Komárom. The construction work took almost 10 years, because the organizers were able to secure the costs from collections (in the village and in the wider region). The church was consecrated on September 19, 1939 in honor of the Virgin Mary. The church was consecrated by Dr. László Saly, abbot canon of Győr.
