József Cselkó was famous for his charity, for which the Chief Civil Judge of Galanta awarded him the Crowned Gold Cross of Merit in a ceremonial setting. He died a week later. ; Béla Kurcz was born in Szőgyén and moved to Nagymácséd in October 1945. During the years of deportation, he tried to instill spiritual strength in the disenfranchised Hungarians, but above all in the 578 deported people of Mácséd. He died in 1991, and almost the entire village accompanied him on his last journey. His memory is preserved in the street named after him.
